How it works

Two doors in. One relationship.

You can ask for a mentor, or offer to be one — and most people eventually do both. One profile holds both modes, because the person guiding someone through a career change may be the one asking for help with a new language, a diagnosis, or a first business.

Door 1

I want a mentor

  1. 01

Pick the field you need help with.

  2. 02

Browse mentors filtered by field, language, availability and format.

  3. 03

Send a Mentor Request with a short note about what you're hoping for.

  4. 04

The mentor accepts, declines, or refers you to someone better suited.

  5. 05

On accept, the relationship opens and your first conversation is scaffolded for you.

Door 2

I want to mentor

  1. 01

Set your fields of expertise and how many people you can hold right now.

  2. 02

Browse the Mentee Request board — requests stay anonymous until you're interested.

  3. 03

    Send an Offer to Mentor.

  4. 04

    The mentee accepts or declines.

  5. 05

On accept, you land in the same relationship flow — no extra setup.

Once you're matched

The hard part of mentoring isn't goodwill — it's structure. UBelong supplies it so the relationship survives past the first conversation.

Kickoff

A ready-made first conversation: goals, expectations, cadence, and how long this should run. Mentors never have to invent structure.

Cadence

Weekly, biweekly, monthly or as-needed, with optional check-in reminders.

Shared goals

Two to four lightweight goals the mentee sets. The mentor can see progress and comment.

Session log

Short notes after each conversation, private to the two of you.

A natural close

Either side can mark it complete with a short reflection — then the mentee is invited to mentor the next person.

Re-match, no stigma

If it isn't a fit, either side ends it in one click and goes back into the pool. No awkward breakup.

You belong before you're matched

Nobody sits in an empty waiting room. The moment you join, you land inside the Circle for your field — open discussion, questions, shared resources, and people a few steps ahead of you.
